In Trouble

I'm writing another essay about talking to kids about past drug use- this time for a parenting magazine. The essay is due next week. Here is a sentence from my current draft: 

"In
the end, I was convinced by what I could see before me rather than
what I knew could maybe one day happen. Nevertheless, still getting
this at school. glazed donuts. snowman sweater, mormons… but
from the first time I picked up a drink…"

I think I'm in trouble.
