More Blow

November 30, 2005

I was organizing all our files the other day when I came across this paper from the hospital from when Nico was born. There were definitely challenges that came with having a baby in a non-english speaking hospital but there were also some humorous rewards! The nurse had made this chart for me (with the aid of her Japanese-English dictionary) to keep track of what Nico did during his first few days. I’m not sure if you can see it but where "Vomit" is written, the nurse had originally written "Blow" but then crossed it out and changed it when Mr. D questioned what she meant. I just love living in Japan!

I love how she put “shit”! I used to live in Hong Kong and one night I stole a sign from the elevator in some carpark that said “Please do not shit or urinate on the floor.” It was on my wall in college forever.

At first I thought that “urine” label said “wine” and it made me briefly consider having a baby in Japan.
